We examined 50 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease of various severity, victims of Chernobyl NPP accident and 10 patients who were not exposed to ionizing radiation. In the group of victims of the Chernobyl disaster in comparison with the nosological control more severe violations of the lung volumes ratio and diffusion function of the lungs, more often pulmonary hypertension was found. With the disease progression victims of the Chernobyl disaster indicated a tendency to dilatation of the right ventricle with the formation of its diastolic dysfunction. The main type of mucosal changes in the tracheobronchial tree for the victims of the accident at the Chernobyl NPP was catarrhal or catarrhal - sclerotic endobronchitis with the deformation of the tracheobronchial tree.
