Object of investigation - bulk polycrystalline ferroelectric materials based on solid solutions Ag(Nb,Ta)O3 (ANT) with a perovskite structure . The purpose of this project - the development of new highly multifunctional materials based on ANT with significantly improved performance for the applications in microwave dielectric and nonlinear components. As a result of Stage 1 of R&D, the experimental samples of functional ceramic materials including dielectric capacitors, nonlinear dielectric capacitors and dielectric resonators of different resonant modes for radiofrequency and microwave ranges have been synthesized. It has been shown that the primary interest in terms of practical applications of potential ANT -based materials is due to their combination of high values of dielectric constant ( = 200 - 500 ), low dielectric loss at microwave range (tg << 10-2) and a strong dielectric non-linearity (nR = 20 - 30 %). The influence of the concentration of additional crystalline phases - dielectric and metallic silver in the materials on the frequency dependence of the dielectric loss has been studied. It was established that the contribution of the above phases in the total microwave loss is significantly reduced with frequency. The experimental data denote a significant potential of the proposed materials for various applications in modern technology of wireless radio and radar. As a result of the project activities, science-technical cooperation between scientists from Ukraine and Slovenia has been established.
