The purpose is implementation of coordination and scientific - methodical management of activities of the institutions of the PGRU System on development and operation of the National Bank of Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine ( Genebank ); enrichment of the Genbank with new sources of economic and biological traits, maintenance of the Information system "The Plant Gene pool"; registration of plant gene pool collections and samples in Ukraine; preservation of the Genebank samples in a viable state and genetic identity. Results - NCPGRU activities on scientific - methodological guidance and coordination of 34 insitutions of the PGRU System and it participating in this work provided the management of the National Plant Genebank of Ukrainian with a gene pool volume of 141.2 thousand samples, attraction in the Genebank of 15.2 thousand new samples including 9.1 thousand from Ukraine, 6.1 thousand samples from foreign countries; transfer for use in breeding, scientific, educational, and other programs of 26.5 thousand packages of genebank samples (of which 9.7 thousand in 2013), among them 1.9 thousand allocated based on research of 26.5 thousand samples as carriers of economic traits, maintenance and use of the Information System " The Plant Genepool" with passport data of 96.7 thousand samples and the database of the National Ukrainian plant genepool seed samples Depository with seed fund of 61.9 thousand samples; the implementation of international cooperation. NCPGRU, for the reporting period, drew in the Genbank 6068 new samples from Ukraine and 29 foreign countries, including in 2013 1727 samples. In order to collect the local gene pool samples, three expeditions were carried out that collected 1103 genepool samples adapted to the conditions of different zones of Ukraine. There was carried out plant quarantine testing and initial study of 2472 samples of wheat , triticale , rye, barley , introduced from 25 foreign countries, including in 2013 896 samples from 21 countries. Absence of contamination with quarantine pest species was found. On the base of field evaluation in the introduction and quarantine nursery, 504 carriers of economic traits were allocated to further study, use in breeding programs and others (174 in 2013 carriers). In 2011-2013, for use in breeding , scientific, educational programs, 12.2 thousand Genebank samples packets were transferred including 3925 samples packages in the 2013. The Information System "The Plant Genepool" was improved in accordance with international standards. Maintenance and correction of passport data base with information about 96.7 thousand samples which belong to the 635 crops were carried out. Developed and approved in the NAAS the Regulations on Information System " The Plant Gene pool", the Regulations on the registration of plant gene pool collections and samples in Ukraine, under which there were registered 48 gene pool collections and 399 samples. Total at the end of 2013, there were registered 157 plant gene pool collections and 1140 samples. Storage in viable state of 61.9 thousand gene pool samples relating to 666 crops and wild crop relatives was ensured in the National Seed Depository. In particular, in accordance with international standards, 36.2 thousand seed samples in a freezer (-20 ° C), 13.4 thousand samples in the refrigerator (4 C), 12,2 thousand samples under unregulated temperature in a sealed containers. In 2013, the Depositore was supplemented by 2372 seed samples. During the reporting period 2011-2013, seeds of 1306 samples of various crops were issued from the National Depository for use, including in 2013 - 402 samples. The Patents on useful model for "Method of aging simulation in plant seeds of legumes (Fabaceae)" and "Method to create industrial varieties of hexaploid homologues of durum wheat and emmer". The peculiarities of the connection between alpha - tocopherol and indicators of seed viability in maize and sunflower were revealed. Three dissertations for the degree of candidate of sciences were defended on the base of the investigations.
