The used chamber, field and laboratory methods for investigation of biodiversity of river hydrobionts and subsequent evaluation of water quality by bioindication methods; ecological evaluation of quality of surface waters via three groups (salt compound, peat saprobiont indexes, content of specific toxic substances); selection of geobotanical and hydrobiological samples; evaluation of the condition of waterworks on water bodies; landscape and cenotic investigation for the purpose of evaluation of current ecological state of the chosen typical small rivers of forest-steppe right-bank and left-bank Dnepr region were specified. The theoretical results were achieved through the use of methodological approaches to the development of measures for ordering water protected zones of the mentioned above small rivers i.e.: using calculation of measure "capacity" according with the biogenic loading of water catchment areas; landscape structure development and selection of vegetation species for different landscape types on the basis of the optimization of space planning of water protected territories of small river basins. Practical results consists in arranging water protected zone ordering measures as typical schemes and structures with adaptation to the local conditions and with account of watershed principle. The novelty of the work consists in ecologically balanced organization of territories of river valleys and resolution of the matter of the arrangement and connection of different lands (virgin and anthropogenically modified) in accordance with the basic river valley components in a vertical cut (from the source of a river to the river mouth) as well as in a horizontal cut (from a river bed through a flood plain and to bank terraces through the whole catchment area). Efficiency of introduction from using of the methodological approaches consists in: the provision of support of advantageous hydrological, hydro-geological and hydrochemical regimes of surface and underground waters; keeping to the sanitary-hygienic conditions of the execution water-protected regime which acts on the territory adjoining to an object of economic activity located on a water body; creation of optimal conditions for population during long-term functioning of the object. The use of the work results in educational process will take place during lectures and practical classes, research and development studies with student, post-graduate and young scientist participation. Methodical work "Guideline to the evaluation of ecological state and ordering of protected zones of small rivers of Forest-steppe of Ukraine" was elaborated.
