The effect of optical restriction of intensity has been found in the interaction between nanosecond laser pulses and thin nanostructured silicon carbide films of different polytypes. It is shown that the restriction intensity at =532 nm (Irestr 106 W/cm2) is less by an order of magnitude than at =1064 nm (Irestr 107 W/cm2). The effect is promising for creation of the optical switches and limiters which operate under the conditions of high and low temoeratures, chemically aggressive ambient and considerable radiation loads. The dependence of the transmission of nano-composites, which include nano-particles of different kinds, and the diffraction intensity of the bulk gratings, which are made on their basis, on the pulse laser radiation intensity. It is shown that the non-linear response of the layers and periodic structures is mainly the manifestation of the non-linear properties of nano-particles inserted into the polymer matrix.
