Subject of study is the process and the results of repressive policy of the government that reflected appropriately in the activities of the reserve. The aim of the study is to demonstrate the results and results of the repressive policy of the state on scientific and museums institutions as an example of Kiev-Caves Preserve. The methodological basis of the study represents the principles of historicism objectivity, comprehensiveness and scientific and systematic approach. The study used the methods of historical sources, research heuristics, classification and criticism of sources. A combination of historical methods (reconstruction, historical and comparative, retrospective) made it possible to achieve the stated goals and objectives of the study. Scientific novelty of the study is due to the relevance of a topic that has not received full and objective coverage in history. Reproduced full, complete picture of the museums activities and research of Kiev-Caves Preserve 1920 - 1930's. In modern Ukrainian historical literature there are only a few articles devoted to this topic. Often some of the facts and conclusions of the provisions contained in some of these works need clarification and correction. In our work, we pointed out the errors that are prevalent in the Soviet literature, based on archival materials, and specified the number of positions. The study demonstrated that in a repressive government action methods reflected in museums realm: there have been major changes in personnel within museums and actually Kiev-Caves Preserve became anti-religious instrument of the state. This in turn caused an example of Kiev-Caves monastery it demonstrates damage, destruction and irreversible loss of many splendid works of art and monuments of Ukrainian national culture, has stopped the development of science and museums case. For the first time in Soviet historiography, this process has been studied systematically and comprehensively presented as an independent scientific problem. A full analysis of existing research historiographyy sources: official documents, including secret correspondence, research papers, internal documents of the museum and more. The study uses a substantial number of archival documents, which were first introduced to the scientific community. Reserve activity considered against the backdrop of contemporary historical situation, define their place in the historiography process. The obtained results of the study can be used in scientific and educational activities. Factual material and the findings may be used for further scientific development problems of the history museum, the modern history of Ukraine, as well as teaching aids, monographs, historiographical works and as information for exhibitions, excursions.
