Purpose of study is establishing the modern possibilities of the etiological diagnosis and treatment of patients with syndrome of tuberculous and nonspecific etiology spontaneous pneumothorax in the II-III levels health care institutions. Research methods are statistical and mathematical analysis of clinical results, laboratory research, data of thoracoscopy in patients with spontaneous pneumothorax. Clinical, pathological, histological studies of experimental animals were used also. We analyzed the possibility of non-invasive diagnosis methods use in the diagnosis of spontaneous pneumothorax. The level of neutrophil elastase in patients with spontaneous pneumothorax and its role in the pathogenesis of the complication were investigated. Features of chitosan implants influence on the course of early postoperative period and reparative processes in lungs were determined in an experimental animal models.
