The goal is to develop a classification of spruce forests taking into account their pathological condition and natural regeneration and to prepare recommendations on forest management in the spruce forests and on replacement of secondary spruce stands by natural ones to enhance the stability of spruce forests in the region. The research methods include forest inventory; forest pathology; selection; forestry and environmental; GIS; mathematical statistics. Recommendations on forest management in the spruce stands in the Ukrainian Carpathians and on replacement of secondary spruce stands by natural ones are developed for main forest and stand types according to the category of forests.
