Recommendations regarding monitoring programs of the environment state around the acting NPPs and in the areas of location of facilities of the nuclear fuel cycle, as well as recommendations for the conducting of transboundary monitoring of radioactive contamination by the Hydrometeorological Service of Ukraine are presented. Section 2 presents the results of studies of radioactive contamination of bottom sediments of the Kyiv Reservoir: a map of bottom contamination with caesium-137 has been built; the total activities of 137Cs, 90Sr and other artificial radionuclides in bottom sediments were calculated; the long-term changes in the overall picture of bottom sediments contamination were traced, the total amount of the silt material in reservoir and the degree of reservoir siltation were evaluated, a positive conclusion on the use of sandy sediments of reservoir for the needs of the construction industry by the content of artificial and natural radionuclides was made. Section 3 presents the results of UHMI observations for isotopes in aerosols and precipitation. The scientific and methodological basis for observations for the contents of isotopes in atmospheric aerosols and precipitation in Ukraine was developed and verified for the use of isotopes as indicators of accidents at nuclear power plants or on the radiation hazardous enterprises, as well as the use of isotopes as tracers of geophysical processes occurring in the atmosphere. Chapter 4 presents a set of methods for determination of natural and artificial radionuclides in the environmental samples, which were tested and verified in UHMI. The examples of the successful application of these techniques for the analysis of samples in the frames of UHMI participation in the IAEA's proficiency tests were demonstrated. These methods are intended for the radioanalytical laboratories working in the field of general radiation monitoring of environment and in the sites of uranium production impact .
