The object of the study are the natural complexes on the territory of the Danube Biosphere Reserve (DBR hereinafter). The purpose of scientific researches - to investigate the current state of the flora and fauna of the DBR and make an inventory of invasive species. Research methods mainly were common methods of botanical and hydrobiological, ichthyological, herpetological and ornithological surveys. In the flora of DBR the adventive fraction includes 192 species or 19.88% of the total number of species of higher vascular flora of the reserve. Their greatest number centers in the geocomplexes of coastal Zhebriyanskaya Ridge (95.0%) and the secondary delta of Kiliya mouth of the Danube River (93.3%), less on the Yermakov Island (84.4%). The total number of plant species with invasive capacity of the reserve consists of 23 species of archaeophyte and 31 species of kenophytes that a total number of 54 species or 58.06% of the total number of species in the flora of Ukraine. Greatest number focused on Zhebriyanskaya Ridge - 46 species, the second is the secondary delta of the Kiliya mouth of the Danube River with 39 species, in the third stage – is the Yermakov Island with 34 plant species. The distribution of plant species with invasive capacity correlates with the distribution of alien flora of the reserve. According to the results of researches on the territory of the reserve there were identified the 39 invasive species of fauna, which is amount 1.9% of the total number of fauna species (2062). In the waters of the Lower Danube and the Black Sea, there is a significant number of invasive species of aquatic invertebrates (at least 26 species). Also 3 species were extended of their range over the past few years. A significant number of potential invasive species already inhabiting the Black Sea, therefore their appearance in the waters of the DBR is possible. In the waters of the DBR there were registered the 12 species of invasive and introduced character. The most dangerous for the natural ecosystems are Chinese Sleeper, and the most widespread – the Pumpkinseed Sunfish and Stone Moroko. Among the invasive species of fauna of the reserve the biggest is the Golden Jackal, which in recent years has spread throughout the reserve. Among the representatives of the herpeto- and ornithofauna there are no invasive species. During the process of the researches it was analyzed the impact of invasive species of flora and fauna on the native species and natural ecosystems of the DBR. On the topic of the scientific and research work there were published 6 scientific papers. The results of the work will be presented in the Chronicles of Nature of the DBR and could be used by state environmental agencies, regional quarantine services, scientific and research and agricultural institutions, as well as by the stakeholders on the territory of the DBR.
