The goal of the research - certification of the site of ancient Chornobyl town for the purpose of registering it in the State Register of immovable sites of Ukraine. For accomplishment of the specified tasks, researchers carried out: archaeological excavations of the annalistic Chornobyl, processing of the obtained archaeological material, preparation of the detailed plans of excavations and discovered objects; preparation of necessary documentation for sites' registering in the state register. The research methods - archaeological excavations, graphic and photo fixation of the discovered movable archaeological sites, analytical description of the discovered archaeological material, special archaeological methods of fixation and dating of movable sites, scientific processing of the discovered archaeological sites and the inventory card compilation. During 2012-2013, researchers resumed archaeological excavations of the annalistic Chornobyl town and reconnaissance works for the purpose of exploration of the site vicinities. In general, during the explorations, 45 archeological objects were discovered, almost 20 000 artifacts were found: 15 000 ceramics fragments, 345 fragments of glass bracelets, 100 glass pendants, 8 crosses worn next to skin, and 21 "priaslos" that belonged to the Ovruch pyrophyllite slate (including 2 ornamented), 15 products of bone and horn; over 370 metal products, osteological rests. In addition, the existence of the Stone Age dwelling sites (tentatively defined as of the late Paleolithic and Mezo-Neolithic ages) in location of the discovered site was confirmed. During the expeditions, significant sites of Kovshylivka 1-7, vicinities of Leliv village and Chornobyl town were additionally explored, 12 trial pits were laid with the total area of 22 sq. m. In Chornobyl town (within location of the Dominican abbey of the 17th century), researchers identified 5 graves and excavated 2 of them - (child's and woman's graves). They belong to the 15th century according to the radiocarbon analysis. The obtained data will considerably extend the overall information on the past of the region affected by the Chornobyl disaster, as well as promote registering of the archeological site of the state importance to the State Register of immovable sites of Ukraine.
