The purpose of research - is to determine the national identity of Ukrainian folk doom based on the understanding of the fundamental prerequisites for aesthetic categories as a result of spiritual development and collective national consciousness. Methods of research - historical and comparative method allowed to find out the specifics of the characters of the epic hero and analyze national aesthetics thoughts in terms of their regional features, consider the concrete historical, national identity epic various Slavic peoples, proximity and similarity plots, images, pictorial means etc . Application ethnopsychological method promotes deeper disclosure of the characters thoughts, aesthetics relationship heroes, due to people's worldview, the level of spiritual and cultural development of the nation, traditions, as social psychology, morality, ethics, development and direction of the inner world of the creator, storyteller, artist, purely individual interpretation of the content of people's thoughts. The results and findings of research can be used to further scientific study of doom as a phenomenon of popular traditional culture, organizing and preparing the publication of Ukrainian folk epic, regulations and special courses on the specifics of the genre, the poetics of Ukrainian folklore. The provisions of the scientific work will complement the existing training programs and manuals on folklore and facilitate in-depth study of the world of the Cossack traditions, psychology, folk singers, musicians.
