Subject of research - the state policy in the sphere of social and legal protection of children and its impact on the situation of children in Ukraine. The goal - to investigate the situation of children in Ukraine and to analyze the activity of state bodies to provide appropriate conditions for their social formation and development. Objectives: • to assess situation of children in demographic terms; • to analyze socio-economic situation of families with children; • to assess the state of education, health and development of children; • to analyze the situation of children in difficult circumstances; • to analyze state policy in the sphere of social and legal protection of children; •to describe the actions of non-governmental organizations and business organizations in the interests of children; •to suggest ways of improving public policies to improve children's rights, their protection and development. The work was based on the analysis of legal documents, state and departmental statistics, information-analytical and results of sociological research on the situation of children and the state policy on social and legal protection of children and its impact on the situation of children in Ukraine. Based on the analysis of recommendations on ways to improve public policies to improve children's rights, their protection and development.
