The project is aimed at the examination of the integration of Sloboda Ukraine Cossack Officials to the Russian imperial society in the context of national-building processes on the turn of Modern epoch. The main scientific result of the project in the new view on the key problems of the domestic social history of the late 18th and the early 19th centuries. This period is a crucial transition in the Ukrainian history. At that time the Russian empire resorted to intensified centralization, integration and unification of regional autonomies into one imperial body. As a result, Hetmanate, Sloboda Ukraine regiments and Zaporozhian Lower Host were abolished. Cossack elites were incorporated into the Russian nobility and created a basis for the future formation of the modern Ukrainian nation. The integration of regional elites had a few aspects, including changes in social positions, ethnic assimilation and shifts in convictions. The goal of Petersburg was to pursue a total physical and mental dissolution of Ukrainian aristocracy in the imperial nobility. Nevertheless, descendants of Cossack Officials returned to their Ukrainian origins even in the 19th century. Product Description popup.authors Брехуненко В. А. Потапенко С. П. Синяк І.
