Purpose of the study is the students' philological and cultural competence formation in the process of professional training. The purpose of the research is theoretical development, substantiation, experimental validation of pedagogical technology of professional competence formation of humanitarian specialists using an integrative approach to the history of foreign literature teaching. The purpose and objectives are determined by the usage of complex methodology based on multidisciplinary approach involving basic concepts of literary criticism, philosophy, cultural studies. The author applies systematic, structural and semantic methods, historical and functional, receptive and comparative approaches, methods of mythopoetic and intertextual analysis, uses principles of cultural and philosophical approach to problem solving of cross-cultural dialogue. The author expands understanding of the essence, content and structure of humanitarian student's professional competence as a person who feels himself as a subject of cultural and historical process in the modern world, capable to reflect, communicate with others by operating realities, customs, his own nation and other nations' visualization; analyzes the philosophical, psychological and pedagogical researches on the dialogue of cultures, studies essence of existing methodological approaches to implementing the principles of integration in education; substantiates the technology of professional competence formation of humanitarian students based on intercultural dialogue; presents bilingual course "Comparative Literature", which is taught in two languages: Ukrainian and English; improves structure, content and methodological support of History of Foreign Literature and Culture integrative course to implement technology of professional competence formation of humanitarian students; testes innovative methods of teaching subjects "Comparative Literature" and "European Studies" in the educational process, the objective of which is to form the philological and cultural competence of students and assess its effectiveness in the context of multi-level dialogue of different cultures.
