Hydrogen and synthesis gas generation from solid biomass and domestic wastes. Conversion of biomass-derived gases (syn-gas) to second and third generation liquid biofuel using nanocatalysts popup.stage_title Head Dudnyk Oleksii, Registration Date 26-01-2015 Organization Coal Energy Technology Institute of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Object of the research - conversion processes of organic waste into gas with high contents of CO and hydrogen. Objectives - to study the processes of carbonization and steam gasification of solid organic waste into gas, which is suitable for further conversion into liquid motor fuel. Methods of research - standard methods for solid fuel research and new methods for assessment of carbonization and gasification of solid organic waste. The research of biological substances (waste of birch and spruce, fast-growing algae, walnut shell, and sugar cane) and industrial and domestic waste (polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, and sludge from Kyiv aeration station) were conducted on the experimental installation for organic waste conversion of Coal Energy Technology Institute of NAS of Ukraine. An installation for production of liquid organic compounds from synthesis gas was developed. At the framework of the joint work with the Indian Institute of Petroleum, the results of the researches of the conversion of synthesis gas into liquid motor fuel in the first in India micro-channel reactor were analyzed. The optimum requirements for the conversion of synthesis gas into liquid organic compounds in a dense bed reactor were determined. The possibility of the creation of microchannel reactor for the conversion of synthesis gas into liquid organic compounds in Ukraine was analyzed. The concepts for the conversion of synthesis gas into liquid organic compounds in the existing dense bed reactors at the Coal Energy Technology Institute and Indian Institute of Petroleum were analyzed. The experimental study of carbonization of solid waste from production of sugar from sugar cane using lime as a catalyst was conducted at the new installation of Indian Institute of Petroleum.
