Green precipitate in mainly formed by a green alga Chlorococcum infusionum, and brown precipitate - by a diatom Planothidium lanceolata. Algae with the size up to 30 mcm were shown to pass through filters, since the natural nonpurified water contained algae with a size range 2.5-100 mcm, and the bottled water - 2.5-30 mcm. Practical recommendations have been given for preventing algal growth in bottled water.
