The purpose of the second stage is to identify the specific contextual and the individual author's filling of literary archetypes of way and child in the novel by W. Styron Sophie's Choice. Universal signs of literary archetypes have been considered. The basic mythopoetical features of functioning of the archetypes of way and child while depicting totalitarianism/fascism have been investigated. The conceptual importance of the biblical component of archetypes of way and child has been revealed in the art world of the above-mentioned novel. It has been proved that the child archetype transformed due to historical and social upheavals and revision of moral preconditions and values.
