Objectives - development of new solid fuel hydrogen technologies for alternative energy and chemical industries. Methods of research - standard methods for solid fuel research and new methods for assessment of steam conversion of Ukrainian coals using the plants for: carbonization and steam gasification of solid fuels. There were summarized the results of research on Ukrainian coal conversion: conversion processes without and with the use of catalysts; coal cleaning for bituminous and brown coals with determination of the effect of the ash content on coal reactivity; catalytic steam gasification of Ukrainian coal with CO2 absorption. Based on the analysis of experimental research conducted at the Coal Energy Technology Institute of NAS of Ukraine, there were developed new basic circuits of the conversion of Ukrainian coal in hydrogen, synthesis gas, and liquid products and created a new installation for Ukrainian coal conversion. The installation can be used to determine the kinetic parameters of solid fuel conversion in minimal time and with minimal energy consumption. A new method for Ukrainian coals reactivity analysis is developed. The feasibility study of new circuits of Ukrainian coal conversion installations for the production of hydrogen, electricity, and chemical compounds was carried out. There were performed the calculations on the possibility of using air gasification of coal in fluidized bed at the new gasifier of installation DualEx intended for solid organic waste gasification.
