Karazin popup.description2 Object of research is individual and collective memory. The aim of research is theoretical and empirical study of individual and collective memory characteristics in contemporary society. The tasks of the research are the following: theoretical study of the problem; selection of empirical techniques and creating experimental research methods, selection of processing data techniques; carrying out experimental work and receiving experimental data; analysis of received data; writing and preparing articles for publication; writing final report. According the results of generalization the following conclusions can be done. Individual memory has a number of age characteristics. Person's age worsens memory volume, of short-term and motor memory, in particular. Also it strengthens interference effect. At the same time professional or sports activity can influence these phenomena positively. Various mnemotechnical means, mental charts and plans development, in particular, improve the effectiveness of long-term and short-term memory. Using mental chart as a mean of remembering is more effective for saving information in long-term memory in comparison with voluntary remembering without such a mean and remembering with the help of creating a plan. Characteristics of memory are connected with the features of representative systems and with people's age, gender and profession. Young people have higher indexes of visual and digital representative system, older people have higher rate of kinesthetic and digital representative system. Different types of representative systems play different role in organization of memory processes, and the influence of visual representative system is expressed more than that of the auditory. There are some insignificant gender differences in prevailing types of memory. While recollecting important life events the youth in general recollect personal relationship, study and loss. Experienced traumatic events cause adverse emotional and behavioral consequences. The students who left the zone of antiterrorist operation more often recollect traumatic events connected with the theme of the war. Other students recollect events connected with their personal relationship. Emotional memory and mechanisms of defense are connected with each other. It is inversely directed to the recollections of both distant and recent past. In the youth events of the distant past are connected with regression, denial and projection. Both distant and recent recollections are connected with repression and rationalization. As for the collective memory the subsequent conclusions have been made. Collective and individual memory is inextricably connected with each other. Individual memory is mediated by the means developed by other cognitive processes, thinking and perception first of all. And intellectual operations and schemes become memory means. Thus collective memory can be a mean of individual memory mediation. It sets a scheme or a frame which are appropriated and with the help of which the events are remembered, saved in individual memory and can be recollected. Communication is connected not only with individual memory but also with group memory. A group memory develops in the process of communication. It is characterized by the fact that commonly developed mnemonic information has selective features and it is influences by the values, standards and views of those social groups people belong to. Social groups create system of social communication in which the main part belongs to group memory. It was suggested psychological and literary analysis of poetic texts which contain holistic system if ideas about memory. Such analysis was carried out on the example of Taras Shevchenko creativity. His works include distinguishing individual and popular memory, description of the mechanisms of their work, features of such phenomena as memory-rumor, narrative by memory, recollection about a person by other people and some others.
