The research objects were rats and hamsters. Methods: biochemical, electrophysiological, histological, electron microscopic, morphometric, experimental models of pathological states, statistics. Results. In different organisation levels (organ, system, tissue, molecular, ultrastructural, etc.). there were determined some of the mechanisms of homeostatic regulation in homoio- and heterothermal animals under artificial and natural hypometabolism, artificial cooling (extreme cold exposure (-120°C), different strategies of cold acclimation), and against the background of pathological states (alimentary obesity, hypothyroidism, chronic alcohol intoxication). Our findings are of high priority and enable extending the notions about the mechanisms of artificial and natural hypometabolic state formation, substantiating the new regimens of extreme cold exposures for their further usage in medical practice.
