A significant increase of oxidative DNA damage in laboratory rats when exposed to low-intensity microwave radiation also was showed. Essential significance of digitally modulated radiation (GSM standard) to produce biological effects was revealed. Unmodulated microwave radiation in similar conditions did not produce significant biological effects. In model studies in vitro the participation of antioxidant enzymes (catalase and superoxide dismutase) in the biological effects of low-intensity microwave radiation was found.
