Identification and maintenance of genetic and sanitary purity of clones is carried out by many years of careful selection and multiple checks on latent harmful infection. In the NSC "Tairov Research Institute of Viticulture and Wine-Making" for more than 25 years nearly 100 clones of 45 grape varieties have been studied and tested for viruses and crown gall disease absence, best of wich have been recommended for propagation. Data of this period showed that the evaluation of stability and variability of the traits during clonal selection using ampelographic description is complicated enough for the reason of the differences absence between clones and initial cultivars and the productivity evaluation is possible only from 4th -5th year.
