The goal of this work was to develop the approaches to the treatment of patients with alcohol dependence based on studies on the role of the liver in the mechanisms of formation of mental and behavioural disorders resulting from the consumption of alcohol. Results: there were developed and tested the methodology and technology for non-invasive diagnosis and differential diagnosis of alcoholic liver lesions using elastography. There was identified the common and specific mental and behavioural disorders and their significant correlation in patients with alcoholic disease with the signs of liver damage by ultrasound, biochemical examination and pathopsychological researches. There was proposed the use of studying the content of ammonia in the dynamics for the assessment of treatment of alcoholic liver disease. There was proved the expediency of ademetionine use not only as a hepatoprotector, but also as the corrector of affective disorders, on the background of complete abstinence as well as reduction of alcohol use.
