The molecular organization of 5S rDNA in plants from the genera Pyrus, Malus, Mespilus, Cydonia, Lathyrus, Solanum and Dactylus and in lepidopterian insects from genera Cupido, Melitaea, Lycaena, Polyommatus, Sphinx and Satyrus was studied. The intergenic spacer region of 5S rDNA of 3 plant and 7 butterfly species were cloned and sequenced. It has been revealed that the 5S rDNA comparison can be used in phylogenetic and taxonomic studies and for identification of species and varieties. The frequency of several mutations of BRCA1, GSTT1, GSTM1 and p53 genes in the human population of Chernivtsi region was determined. It has been found that some of the investigated mutations may be a risk factor for asthma disease and breast cancer.
