For comparative assessment of the impact of wheeled and tracked skidders such parameters as a track depth after multiple passages and a damage area have been used. Results of research. To estimate the averaged characteristics of damages caused by logging tractors using the methods developed by the National Forestry University of Ukraine their geometrical parameters have been examined and distributed according to their ranges. According to the research results the track depth after the first 5-10 passages makes about 70% of the track depth after 20 passages that practically corresponds to the maximum compaction of soil particles.
