Adaptation strategies of arboreal and herbal plants are related with their origin and ecological and biological peculiarities determining their growth, development, phenorhythmotype, realization of reproductive potential, morphological and physiological changes. We estimated with using of traditional criteria the introduction success for 714 arboreal plant species of different geographical origin under steppe climatical conditions; the highest balls got 143 species. We ascertained that species from Atlantic-North American (73,9 %), East Asian (71,8 %) and Circumboreal (67,8 %) Regions have high level of adaptation to conditions of Kryvyi Rih area; this adaptation appears by stable valuable ontogenesis, absence of growth inhibition and high reproductive ability. The herbal perennials of collection fund such as rosette rhizome geophytes of East Asian and Mediterranian-West Asian origin; non-rosette rhizome hemicryptophytes of North American, West Asian and Eurasian one; non-rosette rhizome hemicryptophytes of North American one, semi-rosette taproot hemicryptophytes of Siberian-Asian one and others have high adaptation ability too. We estimated integrally ecological and biological, morphological and anatomical, reproductive and physiological peculiarities of arboreal species of genera Pinus L., Crataegus L., Betula L., Populus L., Quercus L. and herbal perennials Hemerocallis L. and Canna L. Adaptations of arboreal species realize by increasing of leaf epidermis thickness as well of size of spongy and palisade parenchyma cells, of stomas quantity and chlorophyll a-content in leaves under non-critical moisture conditions and by total water content reduction under conditions of significant sediment deficiency. We proved that herbal perennials have total adaptatation reactions in the leaf level under droughty conditions: increasing of content of chlorophylls during blooming time and its significant reduction at the end of growing season with simultaneous increasing of content of carotinoids. We devised scientifically based recommendations and assortment of arboreal (307 species and 85 cultivars) and herbal (17 species and 97 sorts) plants adapted to conditions of steppe zone of Ukraine for greening of different functional purpose objects. We created electronic computer database of arboreal plants of collection fund of Kryvyi Rih Botanical Garden of NAS of Ukraine including taxonomical and other information about 1162 taxa. We selected pretending sorts Hemerocallis hybrida hort. which are resistant to biotic and abiotic factors.
