Cell surface CD150 expression (csCD150+) was observed in 73% of CLL cases. Unexpectedly, in csCD150- CLL cases we detected cytoplasmic expression of CD150 antigen. . Ligation of CD180, but not of CD40 or BCR, lead to CD150 upregulation on mRNA and the protein level. Moreover, CD150 was colocalized with CD180 on the plasma membrane of CLL cells (R=0.98±0.1). Expression of mCD150, nCD150 and sCD150 isoforms was detected in all tested CLL cases, with significantly higher expression levels of nCD150 (20% CLL cases) compared with normal B cells. Ligation of the CD150 receptor on CLL cells induced Akt, JNK1/2, and p38MAPK phosphorylation.
