The aim of the work was to study the effect of genetic transformation on the peculiarities of "hairy" roots culture growth and their accumulation of biologically active compounds. Methods of research - biotechnological, biochemical and microbiological methods of research were used. " Hairy " roots of A. absinthium L., A. annua L., A. vulgaris L., A. dracunculus L., A. tilesii Ledeb, Ruta graveolens L. were used in the experiments. The effect of transformation on the synthesis of biologically active compounds and antioxidant , antimicrobial and antiviral activity was studied. The content of fructans ranged from 6.5 to 39.4 mg / g DW and depended on the plant species. Differences in the content of fructans were defined both in different lines of transgenic roots inside one species, as well as in the content of compounds in the transgenic roots among various species. In 50% of extracts obtained from transgenic lines, the level of AOA (DPPH) was higher compared to the control. 80% of the extracts from transgenic lines had an increased ability to reduce the ABTS + radical. The highest activity was exhibited by extracts of the transgenic roots of A. annua and A. tilesii, and the lowest - by A. dracunculus. Extracts of wormwood plants almost did not show antimicrobial activity. At the same time, the transformation led to an increase in the activity of R. graveolens against Gram + microorganisms. Ethanol extracts showed greater activity than water extracts. The interferon-like activity of extracts from the transgenic roots of A. vulgaris, A. annua, A. tilesii varied between 642 and 1285 IU / g of DW when tested for inhibition of the cytopathic effect of the vesicular stomatitis virus in the cell lines from neonate porcine. The highest antiviral activity was shown by A. vulgaris and A. annua transgenic lines extracts. So, it was determined that transformation using Agrobacterium can lead to changes in the synthesis of biologically active plant compounds of Artemisia and rue and can be used to obtain the BAS-productive lines.
