Purpose - to study physical and chemical processes that underlie the wet and semi-dry flue gas cleaning technologies to reduce emission of sulfur oxides and fly ash formed in the solid fuels combustion process, which have a negative impact on the environment, and to improve these cleaning technologies. The possibility is studied of the use of ammonia compounds as a possible sorbent or catalyst in gas cleaning processes. The method of research - analysis, physical and mathematical modeling. The report presents the results of experimental studies of sulfur oxides absorption processes with various ammonia based sorbents, including urea, in the wet and semi-dry cleaning technologies. Based on the analysis of existing technologies of the flue gas desulphurization and the results obtained in experiments, the mathematical model is developed of the chemical retention of sulfur dioxide with sorbent in bubbling and droplet (spray) reactors. Using the developed model, numerical study was conducted for the ammonium semi-dry desulfurization process. An attenuation of acoustic waves was assessed in the dusted flows downstream the boilers of the thermal power plants, to study the conditions of better cleaning of dusted surfaces with sound waves. Technical solutions are provided for the implementation of ammonium semi-dry desulphurization process and co-firing of biomass and coal at 300 MW unit.
