Selected mutants with increased 10-12% production of ethanol can be used in industrial production of ethanol. A new specific regulator of alcoholic fermentation of xylose Cat8 in yeast Hansenula polymorpha was identified . CAT8 gene deletion in improved ethanol producer increased the production of alcohol up to 12.5 g / l under xylose fermentation at 45 ° C. The role of peroxisomal enzymes dyhydroxyacetonsynthase and transaldolase in alcoholic fermentation of xylose in H. polymorpha yeast was discovered. Increased expression of these enzymes led to increased production of ethanol to 12 g / L during alcoholic fermentation of xylose at elevated temperature. It was found that enhance gene expression GCY1 that encodes glyceroldehydrogenase in yeast H. polymorpha, led to increased production of ethanol from glycerol.
