Special attention is paid to the flux of chemical elements that are part of the Antarctic limpet shells, and above all calcium, carbon, and oxygen. The important role of shells of Antarctic limpet as a source of calcium for the terrestrial ecosystems of the Coastal Antarctic is established. It is established that one specimen of Larus dominicanus Lichtenstein takes from 3.3 to 4.7 kg of CaCO3 in the form of small shells (<27 mm) and from 1.3 to 1 during the course of 9 months from the ocean to the land (territories near nests and feed tables) 8 kg in the form of large shells (> 35 mm). Depending on the number of individuals of Larus dominicanus and the duration of the period when the littoral is free from ice, the flux of biogenic calcium carbonate can reach hundreds of kilograms per year. It greatly affects both acid-base properties of the soil and the composition of its organic matter. A conceptual model of reservoirs and carbon flux in the Coastal Antarctic terrestrial ecosystems is suggested. It is based on the composition of soil organic matter studies (in particular, water soluble carbohydrates) and the rate of CO2 assimilation by Antarctic plants. Two problem elements are identified which are difficult to quantify: the flux of elements from land to the ocean, as well as the amount and effect of allelochemicals on the processes of synthesis and absorption of greenhouse gases.
