The objective of the research is to define the cognitive, communicative and linguocultural parameters of studying language units. The research defines the teleological, cognitive and semiotic foundations of studying sense-formation in modern English publicistic discourse. The study reveals the specifics of representation of semantic and pragmatic potential of gender-coloured nominations in English romance novels of post-feminist period. The authors describe the parameters of semantic transformations of language units as a mechanism of developing the semantic field 'education'. The study identifies the key characteristics and lingual means of verbalizing the linguocultural concepts INTELLIGENCE and NATIONAL IDENTITY. The research characterizes the semantic parameters of English eurysemes and exposes pragmatic parameters of English advertising communication. As a result of the study, 11 theses were prepared and defended, 5 monographs, 21 study guides, 21 articles in foreign journals, 55 brief reports in materials of international and all-Ukrainian conferences were published.
