Aim of the work is to create a theoretical background, including algorithms for modelling, signal filtering and processing radar information from an antenna array, developing a model of a pulse antenna for using in a pulse radar - mine detector, formulating recommendations for implementing the developed concept of a mine detector based on forward-looking pulse radar. Investigation method - time marching modeling of wave propagation in time domain, method of induced currents, method of Grin function in the time domain, mesh techniques for 3D modelling electrodynamic structures in both frequency and time domains. A mathematical and program model of operation of a pulse radar with separated radiating and receiving scanning antenna arrays that allows calculating signals that the radar receives for the given input signals and scatterers is developed. Based on the developed model a simulation of radar signal processing algorithms was conducted with the aim to extract signals reflected from separate scatterers when a number of irrelevant scatterers are present. A design of a pulse antenna based on a printed antipodal Vivaldi antenna with resistive loading was developed and its performance within an array of such antennas was studied from the point of view of reducing mutual influence of the radiating and receiving elements in the array.
