Subject of research: the sources of Ukrainian and Lithuanian ethnographic textiles and tools for its production, which are stored in the museums of Western Ukraine and Lithuania. Purpose: to determine the universal and unique parameters of the ornamentation of ethnographic textiles of Western Ukraine and Lithuania from the 19th - the first half of the XX twentieth century. Methods of research: historiographical analysis, photophixation of artifacts, systematization, classification, integrated art-study comparative analysis (technical and artistic features of ornamentation of ethnographic textiles), analogy, generalization, modeling, reconstruction, theoretical comprehension. Novelty: for the first time, technological and artistic-stylistic variability of the dominant motifs in textile ornamentation (weaving, embroidery, knitting, weaving, knitting) and other types of decorative and applied art of Ukrainians and Lithuanians is being worked out and compared (painting and carving on fabric making tools). Interconnection with other works: the research is conducted within the framework of the research program of the Institute of Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine "Traditional-domestic and artistic practices of Ukrainians in the processes of ethnic cultivation."
