Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 A new cell line was obtained from the stromal cellular component of spontaneous rat breast cancer - the SOMK cell line. Its growth, immunophenotypic and cytogenetic characteristics and sensitivity to some antitumor drugs of different mechanism of action were characterized. SOMK cells were used in the co-cultivation system with different EMT associated proteins phenotype rat breast cancer cells to evaluate the effect of stromal cell elements on the proliferative and immunophenotypic properties of tumor cells. The significant stimulating effect of the conditioned medium (CM) of SOMK cells on the proliferative and metabolic activity of rat breast cancer cells with a mesenchymal phenotype (MRS-T5 line), which turned out to be dose-dependent and time-dependent was received. The suppression of growth and metabolism of SOMK cells and stimulation of proliferation of normal fibroblasts after exposure of CM from tumor cells was established. Thus, was obtained a new cell line, which is a model for studying the biological features of stromal cell components, tumor-associated fibroblasts and can be used in co-cultivation systems with tumor cells to study their interaction ex vivo.
