The chemical and phase compositions, microstructure and properties of glass-ceramic samples were studied, it was shown that made materials are characterized by homogeneous structure and high indexes of the density, compressive strength and thermal shock resistance, which conform to the requirements to materials for RW immobilization. An experiment on research the influence of the temperature of glass heat treatment on the volatility of cesium compounds was conducted and it was shown that in samples obtained at 1150 ° C the amount of cesium in the glass remained practically unchanged, in comparison with the amount of cesium in the initial mixture. On the basis of the results of the studies, the samples of glass ceramics were made for the study of physical and mechanical properties before and after irradiation.
