Subject of research - component of the resistance movement of the rolling stock, connected with the direction of railroad crews by track and the wear of surfaces rolling wheels and rails. The purpose of the study is to develop conceptual requirements for the design of rolling stock rolling stock parts from the point of view of material and energy saving on the basis of the development of the positions of the theory of resistance motion, the theory of the direction of railway track crews and the theory of closed power circuits. Research methods. The authors used general scientific approaches and methods: systemic, structural-functional, experimental planning, decomposition, probabilistic, modeling and formalization. In this case, the method of modeling has the greatest value due to the specificity of the investigated object. Mathematical and physical modeling is used. Mathematical modeling involves the creation of two types of models: dynamic and pseudo-static. Dynamic models of deterministic mathematical models based on the systems of differential equations of crew movement in direct stretches of the track. Pseudo-static models of the equation of equilibrium of crews entering in the curves of the section of the track. The combination of two types of models for research of motion resistance and controllability is an update of known methods of mathematical modeling of motion of physical objects. Practical value. The research results will be used for the railway industry of Ukraine in the design, production, upgrading and repair of rolling stock, in particular for high-speed traffic. Buying in South Korea trains Hyundai has confirmed the need to develop and manufacture their own high-speed trains. Research results will allow: to predict at the design stage the resistance of the rolling stock as one of the main indicators of material and energy saving; to substantiate the choice of constructive decisions when designing the running parts on the basis of the criteria of controllability and resistance to movement.
