Dokuchaev Kharkiv National Agrarian University popup.description2 The effect of increasing the heat resistance of plant objects under the action of hydrogen sulfide donor sodium hydrosulfide has been established. It was accompanied by a transient increase in the endogenous content of hydrogen sulfide, as well as the amount of hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide in tissues. The development of heat resistance caused by a hydrogen sulfide donor was eliminated by the action of antioxidants and nitrogen oxide antagonists, which indicates the participation of ROS and NO in the processes of heat resistance formation. A temporary closure effect of stomata in Arabidopsis leaves was shown under the influence of the hydrogen sulfide donor NaHS, which was eliminated by calcium antagonists; that indicates the significance of Ca2+ various pools for the transduction of hydrogen sulfide signal. Under the action of the hydrogen sulfide donor NaHS, the resistance of wheat plants to osmotic stress was increased. Treatment with the H2S donor contributed to the preservation of high activity of antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase, guaiacol peroxidase) in plants under drought conditions, and an increase in the content of proline and flavonoid compounds in leaves. Under the influence of the H2S donor, the basic and cold-hardening-induced resistance of wheat and rye seedlings to the cryostress was increased. Under the influence of NaHS, the activity of main antioxidant enzymes, the content of proline and sugars increased, secondary metabolism was activated, which was manifested in an increase in the activity of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase and the accumulation of flavonoid compounds. These processes were intensified against the background of cold hardening of seedlings. The results obtained are the theoretical basis for development of methods for improving heat, drought and frost resistance of cereal grains.
