Information × Registration Number 0219U000868, 0118U005164 , R & D reports Title Development of the technology for ethanol production on the basis of constructed strains of bakers yeast capable of overproduction of this alcohol popup.stage_title Head Sibirny Andriy Andriyovich, Registration Date 09-04-2019 Organization Institute of cell biology, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 In this science and technical project, ethanol production by different yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae ethanol overproducing strains was analyzed during alcoholic fermentation in cultivation media of various composition, in particular in a mineral medium with high glucose concentration (20-25%); the industrial fermentation medium used for the production of alcohol from wheat hydrolyzates at the SC Uhersky Alcohol Plant; the industrial fermentation medium used for the production of alcohol from corn hydrolyzates at Archer Daniels Midland (Chicago, Illinois, USA); as well as these industrial media with the addition of extra glucose. The highest level of ethanol production was demonstrated for the strain AS400-510-42, which was obtained on the background of the industrial ethanol producer AS400 by positive selection on glyoxylic acid and glucosamine and produced 3-3.5% more of ethanol compared to the initial strain. Additionally, S. cerevisiae strains PE-2 and AS400-510-42 were adapted to growth in a medium with a high concentration of glucose and ethanol (up to 24% and 8%, respectively). The main results of the research were presented at the International Scientific Conference (theses Physiological characteristics of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae resistant to stress factors / O. Ternavska, M. Semkiv, H. Yavorska // XIV International scientific conference of students and postgraduates "Youth and the progress of biology", 10 April 22, 2018, Lviv, Ukraine, Collection of Theses, 2018, p. 222.), and a patent application was filed for the patent of Ukraine for a utility model (A method for obtaining strains of yeast of Saccharomyces cerevisiae capable of ethanol superproduction / MV Semkiv, K V. Dmytruk, AA Sibirny, the applicant and owner of the Institute of Cell Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). Also, the results of the study are planned for implementation at the SC Uhersky Alcohol Plant (village Uhersko, Ukraine).
