Calculations and computer simulations have shown that in both weak and high current mode, the ions focus on the axis of the system, where they accumulate and can create a positive electrical space charge. Experimentally obtained energy distribution functions with a half-width of 10% of the average energy, that indicates the efficiency of energy transfer of the electric field of its own space charge to ions. Due to this energy, the output ion flow can create a thrust force suitable for use in a thruster.
