Objective: to develop elements of the technology of growing vegetable and melon plants in conditions of compaction for commodity and seed purposes in the zone of the northern Steppe of Ukraine. Research methods: field experiments, visual, measuring and weight, chemical, mathematical and statistical. In the cultivation of vegetables and melons under conditions of compaction of crops, four compacted plants - vegetable marrow, watermelon, early potato, tomato, and seven seals with varying density - were studied: garden peas on a shovel - 40 and 46 thousand pieces /ha, beetroot per bundle goods - 78 and 106 thousand pieces /ha, sweet corn on the dairy cob - 14 and 21 thousand pieces /ha, lettuce on greens - 85 thousand pieces /ha, shallots on green feathers - 80 and 85 thousand pieces /ha, vegetable marrow - 5 and 10 thousand pieces /ha, bush pumpkin - 5 and 10 thousand pieces /ha. The best compacters on productivity and cost-effectiveness of compacted crops have been established: for the vegetable marrow - beetroot, for early potato and tomato - shallots, for watermelon - sweet corn. Growing a vegetable marrow under the conditions of compaction between rows of beetroot canteen with a density of 106 thousand pieces /ha, increased the total yield of the fruit of the vegetable marrow and beetroot by 7,7 t/ha, total net profit - by 22,2 thousand UAH /ha, profitability - by 20,5% compared with the analog. The economic feasibility of growing watermelon for commercial and seed purposes during the inter-row spacing of sweet corn with a density of 14 thousand pieces /ha, at which the total yield of the main plant and the compactor, the total profit and profitability level were set at 29,0 t/ha, 56,1 thousand UAH /ha and 239,7%, which is higher than the analog by 4,8 t/ha, 17,2 thousand UAH /ha and 59,6%. During the compaction of the seedlings of watermelon with sweet corn (14 thousand pieces /ha), the seed yield increased from 0,167 t/ha to 0,182 t/ha (9,8%) with an increase in the total profit from the sale of watermelon seeds and corn cobs by 14,3 thousand UAH /ha in relation to the analogue. It was established that the highest total yield of the main plant and compactor per unit of cultivated area was 42,1 t/ha, the total net profit was 112,7 thousand UAH /ha, and profitability 172,1% was obtained when compaction of early potato with early shallots with density 85 thousand pieces /ha with a dose of fertilizers N60P60K30, which is more than the analogue, respectively, by 6,7 t/ha, 46,4 thousand UAH /ha and 28,9%. When growing tomato under compaction with shallot on a green feather with a density of 85 thousand pieces /ha, the total yield, total profit and profitability level increased by 7,6 t/ha, 46,8 thousand UAH /ha and 21%, respectively. Compared to the known cultivation technology without compaction. Keywords: sowing, culture, plant density, fertilizers, seeds, yield, profit.
