The subject of study is the effect of various destabilizing factors, in particular scale, on the efficiency of the operation of heat exchangers and chemical reactors. The relevance of mathematical modeling of continuous thermal processes in non-stationary conditions of their conducting with comparative easy obtaining numerical solutions on a computer is beyond doubt. However, analytical solutions have undeniable advantages. Its great informativeness makes it possible to explain the nature of causal relations in the analyzed properties of the modeling object and, as a practical result, to give physically well-founded recommendations for improving the efficiency of its functioning. To confirm, we distinguish two circumstances: 1) analytical solutions are the basis for the study of the properties of numerical algorithms with more informative results of their testing; 2) in the case of qualitative studies, the proximal limiting cases that allow an analytical solution play a special role. To describe processes in flow reactors as a mathematical basis, two ideal models were used: mixing and plug flow model. Despite considerable simplifications, this allowed us to clarify some of the laws of such processes occurrence.
