Spinal injury is one of the most difficult problems of modern medicine. In research, for the first time, has summarized and implemented an important for neurosurgery, orthopedics, medical and social expertise and rehabilitation scientific and practical problem - improving the efficiency of diagnosis, examination and rehabilitation of patients with the spinal cord injuries by establishing optimal diagnostic methods and treating injuries at different stages, determining the factors that affect the level of disability, improving the methods of neurorehabilitation. For the first time in Ukraine, efficiency of the long-term results of patients with the spinal injury were studies using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health has been adapted to improve the medical and social expertise in Ukraine. New pathophysiological data were obtained through the use of improved neurophysiological research methods in people with disabilities as a result of spinal injuries, which improved medical and social expertise. For the first time in Ukraine, on the basis of an analysis of the causes and factors that lead to the limitation of life activity of patients with spinal cord injuries, the main directions for optimizing medical care for such patients have been identified, which involves reducing the level of disability.
