Along with the solution of the immediate practical problem (determination of the composition of liquid crystal systems giving clear reproducible shifts to the maximum of selective reflection with the aim of using these systems for monitoring of the environment), a number of peculiarities of the behavior of the investigated biological molecules, depending on the chemical nature of the components of the liquid crystal system, were established.
