The current socio-demographic background of long-term transformations of the level and structure of fertility is analyzed. The analysis of the basic structural characteristics of fertility and modern features of their dynamics is carried out. Research of the main tendencies of the newest changes in the structure of fertility. Models for the estimation of interrelations of demographic and economic factors on the structural characteristics of fertility are developed. Recommendations on improvement and development of family policy in our country are formulated. Proposals are developed on the following main areas: material support of different types of families with children; ensuring a combination of employment and family life; development of social infrastructure for child care; educational activity; information and advisory services.
