The subject of the study is the ecological status of the Prut River within the Park, taking into account the processes of self-purification. The following tasks are solved in the work: identified natural-technogenic loads and calculated environmental risks to the Upper Prut River basin; generalized long-term monitoring studies within the Prut hydro-ecosystem on the territory of the CNPP; the ability of the Prut River to self- purification was studied; the scheme of monitoring system of waters on the CNPP territory was improved. The following methods are applied in the work: statistical, expert estimations, observation and analysis, modeling, forecasting. The paper provides new grounded approaches to conducting ecological assessment of surface water, which has found practical application for the Prut hydro-ecosystem within the Carpathian National Nature Park.
