Verkin Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  The calculations were performed using the potential of the embedded atom method and using LAMMPS for modeling and OVITO for visualization. The Sun and others. potential provides the best agreement with DFT and experimental data on dislocation properties. It is shown that the non-Schmidt behavior of screw dislocation can be observed in atomic models of hcp Mg. The effect appears as dependence of critical resolve shear stresses on non-glide component of applied stress. The breaking of Schmid law is demonstrated for basal and prismatic slip systems in Mg The main contribution to the non-Schmid behavior is produced by changes of dislocation core width in the glide plane. According to the study of low-temperature acoustic properties of samples of fine-grained magnesium of technical purity, subjected to intensive plastic deformation in order to study the low-temperature dynamic properties of dislocations, the temperature limit of the dominant action of the mechanism of thermoactivated overcoming local pinning points by dislocations is established. The project has produced results of significant scientific and practical importance and can help to better understand the mechanisms of plastic deformation, as well as improve the prediction of structure formation obtained during severe plastic deformation, to be used to establish the relative influence of thermal activation on the mobility of dislocations in magnesium in a wide range of temperatures.
