The strategy and tactics of mutual understanding and cooperation have been analysed as well. There have been considered a complex of causes and factors (mental, personal, professional), which gave rise to conflict situations between representatives of the intellectual elites of both peoples. The strategy of hostility and the culture of conflict (form, ethics, intensity) have been reconstructed. The article has accumulated the experience of establishing communication between the representatives of the intellectual elites of the Ukrainian and Polish peoples as well as the experience of misunderstanding-solution on the principles of mutual respect and tolerance to different ideological beliefs, establishment of an equal exchange of ideas; development of effective mechanisms of diagnostics and control over the influence of the political situation on intellectual discourse; awareness of responsibility for their actions to contemporaries and future generations.
