The critical loads under tension, compression and bending of fuel assemblies and their hulls (without fuel rods) were determined. Safety factors, principal stresses, contact pressure, deformations and displacements of the models are calculated. The design of the TVS-KhD2 was modified, namely, the connection unit of the lower adapter with the bottom nozzle, which totally increased the strength and stiffness of the fuel assembly.
